I have always known that one day I would end up fatherless but just never thought about it until it happened today. September 28, 2009 will be a day I will never forget, just like other important dates.

My father died.

Mustapha Adedapo Olowe was a dreamer. He could crank up ideas faster than you could digest them (I got that from him). He was hardworking and friendly (I got the hardworking part from him too). He was hardly ever sick. But then, like the way some economist said, on the long run we would all be dead.

So today was his own day. He's left behind kids who will never forget him. And also grand kids, who would probably never stop hearing stories about him.

May his soul rest him peace.

Bad news!

The iPhone has been locked to AT&T and won't work on other GSM networks for now. Very annoying move by Apple. Unlocked version won't be available in Europe until fall. What a way to pour water on my enthusiasm.

I hate common phones and I don't know why. May be being exclusive gives a little rush (akin to something speed ball throws at you). Having used an E70 for a year and looking for that cool phone that won't be too common, Apple has finally come to the rescue with the sexy iPhone.

The iPhone was launched today with AT&T as an exclusive carrier (in US). By God's grace, I should be able to lay my hands on one of these little wonders and by that, find something I can play with for another year.

It was just like yesterday that Dara (my daughter) literarily popped out into this mad mad world; and she's been a bundle of joy ever since.

And today marks her first year on planet earth. It's been fun all the way. I remember when I was so impatient that she wasn't walking on time, now I practically beg and bribe her to sit down and stay still. But children ain't corrupt like the rest of us, so she's not playing ball.

Long time friend, Japin Honeysett, finally summoned courage by taking his long time girlfriend, Sewe (some Tivish name, don't ask me what it means) to the alter. Japin is really brave because he crossed many oceans (Pacific, Indian and Atlantic oceans. Japin is half british half somewhere in the Pacific ocean) and rivers (Rivers Niger and Benue) to hook up with this lovely damsel. You can see the pictures on Flickr.

Sincerely, what else can one ask for except for a good wife? Unless you are related to the Dalai Lama, you have got to get married one of these days. For me, I have always seen marriage as an inevitable life sentence in which a jail break is not favorably viewed. So back in the wild wild days, my plan was if I couldn't dodge going to jail, I could at least postpone the evil day. Until I met my wife. Then my game plan changed. I knew if I lost her, I wouldn't meet anyone like her again. Moral of the story, I married the best woman in the world.

Tongue in cheek: I know a lot of good wife materials but I haven't even seen a better wife material.
